Film Structure
- Open with the best 2 or 3 shots of your work to capture the audience’s attention, then cut to the orange title card.
- End the film with the orange end card. If suitable add a few final shots after that.
- No fading effects or transitions in and out the orange title cards because orange doesnt fade well. Its okay to use fade to black/white.
Do’s and Don’t
Consistently use the same font with same size.
Have your opening shots work to make people ask questions like “whats that? I haven’t seen something like that before, i must keep watching and find out”
Don’t make spelling mistakes – Always check your film for spelling
Don’t animate text unless important
Don’t use bold and regular text – especially not in the same text
Don’t excessively use effects to obviously manipulate video footage nor use cliche film transitions (e.g. folding or venetian blinds)
